World of Smell of Submission

Standard

I’ve posted chapter 6 of His Blood for your enjoyment while I get back into the swing of Shame’s Desire.  I hope to have a new chapter soon, but we will have to wait and see how much my muse is moved to work on anything at all.

65% of you voted for me to talk about the world of Smell of Submission this week!  So that is exactly what I plan to do.

The biggest change I have made away from the cannon world is Harry’s darkness, and putting into effect that everyone can actually be sorted into one of two categories; dominate, or submissive.  I don’t think that is really true of the cannon Harry Potter world, but it is an important fact for the telling of this story.

So everyone is either dominate or submissive, but not everyone is the same or as dominate or submissive as each other.  Each character mentioned in my story has a rating of 1-6 in either dominate or submissive.  (I have a very detailed spreadsheet that keeps track of this and other things).  Those is are rated as a 1 in dominate or submissive tend to not have the drives to dominate or submit and can easily be confused for each other.  Most of the active or main characters rate somewhere between a 3-5.  Harry himself is the only character I’ve given a rating if 6, and that is mainly because he has something bringing out his dominate side all the more.

Ivan the Bold is completely made up for this story and will probably not make any appearances in any other of my stories.  Though I have considered writing a short story about his death as a supplement to the Sense of Submission series.  The Ministry has its own records about Ivan the bold, and I thought I would share a short entry from his file.

“Ivan Burke (Ivan the Bold)- Born in 1782 Ivan graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1799.  It is suspected that he already had several members his deviant cult at that time.  By the age of 30 Ivan was leading a separatist group who sought to cut themselves off from most of wizarding society.  Those who work to follow in his footsteps are dangerous radicals that need to be watched.”

That really sums up the differences between the cannon world and the world of Sense of Submission, but if you have any questions about the world please comment below.  If I feel I can answer them without ruining future plot that I will!

Standard

Sorry about the late posting guys, my head has been completely tied up in an event I was running this weekend and I had no net access to post this sooner.  I have a new chapter of His Blood for you, and I hope you can enjoy that.

Because I just don’t have the brainpower to write real thoughts down right now, I am going to leave you with a poll on what you would like to see next week.

Characters (Women)

Standard

Today I am posting the last of what I have written for Shame’s Desire.  Chapter 21 reveals some more about the Dark Emperor and has a lot of Bellatrix drama.  Because of work stuff and an event I will be running next weekend, you all will be getting more His Blood next week.  But I hope to have new Shame’s Desire the following week.

Now I am planning to do give you my opinions and thoughts of the many female characters I work with from the Harry Potter universe.  I may make future additions to the characters I talk about, but these are the closets to my heart.

Hermione Granger

It took me a while to decide on who to start with, but in the end I decided on Hermione for many reasons.  Her being a member of the “golden-trio” being a big part of it.  Hermione is a strong woman who knows her own mind from the very start of the series.  She is an important resource for Harry as the stories go on and is a hero in her own right.  It is easy for many readers to see her value as it is made very clear in the books that without her Harry would be lost.

I feel I have to mention her race, only because it was a hot topic when it came out a black woman would be playing her in the new play.  Unfortunately for my imagination I actually watched the first movie before I started to read the books, so I tend to think of her as Emma Watson.  But ever since the casting I have had little problem imagining her the other way was well.  I have no real opinion on it and I welcome my readers to imagion Hermione any way they wish.

When I first started writing fan fiction I had a great aversion to using her in my stories.  I just wasn’t that interested in her.  Like Harry her story was out there already and I didn’t think there was a lot of need to explore the character further.  When I started work on Smell of Submission I didn’t think it would be more than one story, but I’ve enjoyed exploring Hermione’s submissive side in it and other works I’ve done with Voldemort.

Luna Lovegood

I’ve always loved Luna from the books.  I saw her as this quirky girl that just had her own way of looking at the world.  I know many women reading the Harry Potter books say they see themselves in Hermione, but she was never relatable for me.  Luna on the other hand I could relate to, which is probably why I like her so much.  She si a soft spoken girl when sees the world in a way that no one around her really understands or believes.

In my stories I try to keep true to the core of who she is, while at the same time letting her grow with the things she must face in that tale.  I think this growth is most notable in the Face Trilogy where she starts off a bit off from herself and has to forge a somewhat new identity in order to survive.

Ginny Weasley

Ginny is a strong and fiery witch that doesn’t take a lot of guff because she has six older brothers that she has to keep up with.  She grows to be a strong woman after having to face her own darkness at age eleven.  She is a safe harbor for Harry because she knows the face of Voldemort in a way no one else in the world can, which means she is one of the few women he doesn’t have to explain anything to.

In my work I liked to use the darkness that she has already been through to make her a more corruptible character.  I enjoy pairing her with either Draco or Voldemort because of who her family is and what she when through her in youth.  I like the drama that is created when she is paired with the dark wizards, though obviously I like dark wizards.

Characters (Men)

Standard

Today I am posting Chapter 20 of Shame’s Desire .  It is the last chapter I have ready to post, but I hope to have another one ready next week.  if I don’t I will be posting another chapter of His Blood.

Any story is made up of characters.  There are many to choose from in the Harry Potter universe.  It is one of the reasons I liked to write Harry Potter fan-fiction, I have so mach to work with.  I would even go so far as to say Hogwarts itself has character like qualities.  Today I am going to walk about what I personally think of some of the character that are often used in Harry Potter fan-fiction.

Harry Potter

So I obviously have to start with the title character, because it would just be silly not to.  Harry Potter is a classic “reluctant hero”.  He doesn’t want to be savior of the wizarding world.  He would much rather be an average kid with a loving mom and dad.  I think even if he couldn’t get his parents back, he would give up the title of savior.  Well he would give it up if the world didn’t need saving, but since it does there is no one he would have take his place.  Not because of ego, but because he wouldn’t want anyone else to have to go through it.  Yeah he is a martyr as well.

Now I hardly ever use Harry as a main character in one of my stories unless I have messed with the core of who he is.  In the Sense of Submission series I have turned his dominance up to eleven, and given him a much more serious view of the world.  I have also gotten rid of his aversion to dark magic and made him question what that even means.

In the Face Trilogy I’ve just introduced the real Harry Potter, and there are already some readers who can tell something is off about him.  It is part of the plot so I won’t go into it now, but it is there.  Even in the spicy little Spark of Dark, Harry was corrupted by darkness.

It is only when he is a secondary character that he is much more like the Harry Potter we known from cannon.  You’ll be seeing more of him in Shame’s Desire, and in the rewrite of Quidditch Lessons, but he will be much more like himself in both.

Lord Voldemort

I feel the need to warn my readers that I am about to rip apart this character.

Voldemort is pure evil.  He represents all that is wrong with wizarding society and then some.  In cannon he a caricature just this side of mustache twisting villain.  He is two diminutional.   Even the bits of backstory, and motivations don’t do anything to round out who he is.  He was much more believable and scary as a elemental force of evil that he was in the first three books.  We are told many times in the books that he is super smart, but he doesn’t make very many smart choices.  But this is all okay because at the end of the day Harry Potter is a story for kids and in kid stories evil can just be evil.

Now after all that I should tell you I actually like the Lord Voldemort character.  Because we only see one side of him, I am more able as a fan-fiction writer to manipulate what we know about him and turn him into the bad guy that I need.  he is easy to pair with pretty much anyone, the only thing one needs to give the paired character someone he values and wants.

In the Face Trilogy Ginny has many things Voldemort wants.  He is from an old wizarding family, and she is seen as his enemies girlfriend which he uses to help himself politically.  In any of my many shorts about Hermione her intelligence is where it really begins and ends, but I also usually add in some dark mysterious power, just to make things really fun.  I don’t really have any posted stories that pair him with anyone else, but I do have one in the works that will pair him with Luna.  In it I plan to make her an oracle, and we all know how into divination Voldemort is.

Ron Weasley

Ron is sort of an everyman.  He is average in almost every way.  But even with all his leaving and coming back, Ron is loyal.  Even when he isn’t talking to Harry, he works the best he can to try and protect him.  He is the guy that stand next to the limelight just out of view and is hard on him, but in the end he rises to the challenge.

I don’t use Ron a lot as a main character.  He’s just too much of a straight shooter to use for the kind of stories I like to tell.  But I as a secondary character I try to keep as close to a cannon depiction as I can.  In Smell of Submission he blows his stack a lot, but at least he has Luna to calm him back down.  In the Face Trilogy he has the brotherly protectiveness and stubbornness we wall love.

Draco Malfoy

Draco is the childhood advisory for the golden trio.  Because of this he comes off as childish a lot of the time.  Until his sixth year with his father in prison he is insulated from the real world.  But we know that he is intelligent as he is the second in their year.  We assume he is charming because so many people go along with his ideas when he does mean pranks to Harry and others.  But in the books we see these things from afar because of his place in the story.

I use Draco a lot.  He is one of my favorite male leads and the lead of my very first fan-fiction.  I make him everything that a good Slytherin should be, cunning, charming, and manipulative.  This I think is obvious in every story I write about him.

Blaise Zabini

Blaise is a non character in the books.  We know he is a blood-purist.  We know he is beautiful.  We know he is a chaser on the Slytherin Quidditch team.  Besides for that he has like two lines in the entire series.

I personally always make Blaise a bit of man slut.  He is so pretty he has to spread it around.  I also tend to make him smart and charming like Draco, but usually he ends up seconding to Draco for whatever reason.  Probably the fact that the Malfoy line has more political power.

So because it is nearly time to post and this got a bit longer than I was thinking, I’ve split in two.  I will be talking about the women of Harry Potter next week!

Sense of Submission

Standard

The post for today is going to be chapter 19 of Shame’s Desire.  I am trying really hard to get this one finished and done so I can turn my focus towards other things.  Wish me luck I have like.. Sevenish chapters left to write

It is time to talk about my most popular series Sense of Submission.  I know it isn’t exactly a series yet for you guys because I have only one story posted, but I swear you are going to get more soonish.  I actually have the first two chapters of Sound of Submission written and I am just waiting until I have a bit more and have finished Shame’s Desire to start posting it.

The Sense of Submission series has five books planned for it.  One for each of the five senses.  If your interested in the order of the senses they are smell, sound, taste, touch, and then sight.  I don’t have an outline for them all yet, but I have chosen the main villains/obstacles Harry will be facing in each one.

In the first book Harry easily settled into his position as a Dark Wizard.  Some the people around him had a harder time with this than others, but in the end he seems to have brought all his new allies together.  He even saved Hermione from a the fate of serving an unworthy master.

In the following books Harry will slowly reveal in existent of his plans to those who are closest to him.  He isn’t trusting easily in these books because he knows that it may be hard for some of those he’s known for years to understand the change in him and not think of him as evil right away.  On the sexual front this series will continue to be harem in nature, with Hermione being Harry main focus and favorite.  It will obviously explore more and maybe even darker BDSM themes.  There will also be future side chapters for the other characters such as Ron/Luna, Ginny/Snape, and other yet to be announced couples that will form.  But I’m not going into fortune plot any more than that, as I know you all would rather read it in a story than than just have me spoil it all in my blog.

As nothing for the future stories are in stone yet, I would be interested to hear you ideas.  You see Sense of Submission all started because I asked my readers what they would like to read so it seems with tradition if I ask you again.  What other pairings would you like to see form?  What kinky things should Harry or others subject our submissives to?  (Oh and for those of you who were wondering, I have a few male subs and female Doms in the works.)  I interested to know what you all want and what you think.

Inspiration

Standard

So my work took me off the grid for the last two weeks with as very small window in my office last weekend.  For this reason my post is coming much later in the day than it has been.  Next week we should be back on schedule.  This week I am posting another chapter of Shame’s Desire! I hope everyone enjoys!

So inspiration is very important to any writer or artist of any kind I guess.  Inspiration can mean a drive to actually work on something, a new idea for a story, or even an idea to continue a story one is already working on.  Whatever form it takes being inspired is usually a good thing for any creative type.  For me, being inspired brightens my whole day.

I don’t think I have a single source of inspiration for the things that I write.  the simple drive to write is based on many things.  I always feel better when I’ve spent a day writing, or even an hour.  But when I’ve feeling depressed or sick, I don’t feel inspired to write, even though I know it would probably make me feel better.  I’m a morning writer myself.  I am always most inspired to work on my writing when I first get up.

I know new story ideas are the bane of many readers existence.  I’ve been right there with you when I just want a writer to finish a story, and here they are starting a new one.  As I’ve said before I get a lot of new ideas all the time, but I try to pare them down and finish old things before I start new.  But when I get what I think is a great idea, I am thankful for it.  Besides for those ideas already working around my head, I actually really enjoy getting promps from a challenge, or my readers, and turning it into a full story.  Late this year, or early next year, I may start accepting such promps from you guys if you are interested.  But before I do that I want to have Shame’s Desire complete and Sound of Submission well on it’s way.

Now I have to day I love when I idea inspired to continue an open story.  Sometimes I’ll start a story thinking it is going in one direction, and I hit a chapter or two where I start to struggle, then inspiration hit, and I know exactly what the characters should be doing which ends up taking them in a completely knew direction than I thought.

For me there is no idea physical thing that inspires any of this.  It mainly comes from inside, and the shifting desires of my brain.  It is why I usually call this inspirational force within me my muse.  It is from inside my own head, but at the same time it can feel very separate from me.  It’s spastic and unpredictable, and I sometimes I have to worship at it’s alter in order to get it moving.  Though I will say, comments and reviews always seem to help. 😉

Consent

Standard

This week I am posting chapter 17 of Shame’s Desire for your enjoyment!  Next week is going to be a bit rough.  If I can I will post Sunday morning like usually, but because of my real life job it the post may not come till the afternoon or evening.  I will be posting chapter 18 of Shame’s Desire on that day so you have something to look forward to.

Now I have talked about consent before in my blog and replying to comments and reviews.  But I thought it was a very serious subject that could use more attention.

I feel the need to start this conversation by telling you my feelings on consent in a real world setting.  There is a saying used within communities I am a part of “Consent is Key.”  This means that no interactions should happen without consent by both parties.  You don’t even hug someone without asking if that is okay with them.  Without consent you are in some ways attacking that person, and yes I even mean the hug.  If someone doesn’t want a hug, you are violating their personal space by giving them that hug, and that is an attack.

Some like to say that in a BDSM relationship consent is more important, because of the nature of what that relationship is.  But I disagree.  I think consent is just as important with any relationship.  It is just that in the world of BDSM we talk about it a whole lot more because of the nature of what we do.  I head people say that the key to a good BDSM relationship is really talking about what each person wants from the relationship.  But again I think that is actually the key to any good relationship.  It is simply that because of the nature of a BDSM relationships we tend to do this because of there can be higher risks involved in some scenes we may participate in.  I guess what I am saying is that we talk about consent a lot in BDSM but we need to remember it is important in any relationship.

Now that being said…

If you have read almost any of my stories you know that my work doesn’t really reflect the above rambles.  Many of the relationships in my stories are non-consensual.  The sub hardly ever gets to stop anything that is happening to them.  My stories are NOT examples of healthy relationships.  Rather they are dark fantasies.  They are more a refection of what a sub or Dom may wish to play out in a scene.

It is true that many of the sub characters end up enjoying what is happening to them, but that doesn’t make what the Dom characters are doing any better.  For example in Smell of Submission I spend a lot of time talking about how Harry is just trying to get Hermione to realize what she really wants.  In a fictional world he resides in his tactics are Dark, and manipulative, but maybe not exactly evil.  In the real world I world consider his tactics reprehensible and call him a cult leader.

I know many would say (Because I have been told directly) that putting these kinds of non-consensual relationships in fiction in a context where they seem normal is wrong.  That doing so just supports rape culture and makes the world a less safe place.  I obviously disagree.  I feel that people have fantasies that are clearly unhealthy to live out.  And I feel that a healthy outlet for these fantasies are in reading, writing, and expression them in ways that bring no harm to any real person.

This worry that we have about people reading, watching, or playing something that will make them feel it is okay to go out and do violence against another person is frustrating.  It belittles the real problems and the real sources of this violence.  People who look to adult fiction, video games, or TV for moral lessons are already lost.  They need help and guidance.  But that is a whole other post…

Read, watch, play anything you want.  Just remember in the real world.  Respect is Important, and Consent is Key.

The Process

Standard

As always let me start by saying I have posted a new chapter to Shame’s Desire.  And let me add that I have written several more that I hope to post over the next few weeks… I thought I was getting near the end of the story, but I keep having to add chapters as things don’t move as quickly as I thought they would.  Originally I thought this story would be about 20 chapters, and now it is looking to be at least 27.  So I keep writing and get no closer to the end…  But if all goes to plan I will have it finished by the end of the summer and I will start posting on Sound of Submission which is currently being written too!

This week I thought I would talk a bit more about the process of writing fiction.  There doesn’t seem to be any single “right” way of doing this.  Each author has their own process and the only thing that matters is that it gets results for them.  So really I can only speak of my own process because it is the one I know best.  I find that when I am working on any story I have four stages of development.

There is of course the inspiration for the story.  This is when that little plot bunny usually jumps up out of nowhere and screams “write me write me”.  On a good day I have about three to ten plot bunnies.  Which I quickly murder like 90% of them.  You all have seen the ones that survive, can you imagion how bad the ones that don’t are?  You don’t want to read the where Hermione is stuck in the world of Minecraft.  Anyway.  Getting the ideas is always the most simple of the stages.

The next stage in the process I call outlining.  This is when I grow the idea from a simple spark like, a Dark Harry shows Hermione her place as his submissive, into a full story.  This is where I ask questions like; why is Harry Dark, or why is Hermione his focus?  I start to outline the main plot points I want to include.  For some stories I make detailed maps for where they will lead, while for others only get bullet points to hit as I am going along.  And there are also those that get this step skipped as they seem to have no idea where they are going until they get there.  Examples of each of these are easy.  Smell of Submission has a very detailed plot web with spreadsheets and seating charts.  Face of Death actually is mainly bullet points that I want to hit on each chapter.  And my recent story His Blood sort of just went where it wanted to go.

After a put thought into a story it is time to start writing.  The writing stage for me is hard to describe.  And at times the story doesn’t go where I mentioned planned because in the passion of a scene my characters don’t do what I had planned for them.  There are times when I an utterly surprised with the path my characters choose and I find I am following where they lead.

Many have complained about the fact that in my story Blind Nymph Ginny had sex with Blaise when it was obvious that Draco cared for her and that she cared for him.  They I have many reviews and comments saying out she was being spiteful or silly or just mean.  But when I was writing the scenes leading up to that choice it was my character with her frustration, and fear, and own anxiety that decided a man like Blaise was the safer choice BECAUSE she didn’t care about him the same way she cared about Draco.

There is a scene in Face of War where Lord Voldemort drives the dark mark into Ginny’s hip with such force that it marks her very bone.  That dramatic event was not what I ever had in mind when I started writing the scene.  Originally there was going to be pain for Ginny, a punishment of some kind, but then Tom just broke and he needed to not only punish her, but mark her as his so that she could never say otherwise.

It us a rush for me when things like that happen. I tend to be very connected to my characters and I swear there is adrenaline pumping when there are high energy scenes like that.  When I get so focused in on what the characters are doing and feeling that the rest of the world just drops away and I am surrounding by a world of my own making.  For better or worse that feeling is the reason I write.

Don’t get me wrong, I love your comments and reviews and responses very much.  And each one brings a smile to my face to know that someone else is enjoying what I put out into the world.  But if responses were my only reason for writing, I would probably have stopped a long while ago.  My stories aren’t really popular enough to merit me writing for simple ego’s sake.

Okay so I went a little off on a tangent there…

After I get all the emotion and plot and 😉 smut on the page the editing starts.  First I’ll reread the chapter myself to find any obvious errors or mistypes.  Then I send it to a wonderful woman named Eclectic Pet who reads them over and makes more edits.  When she sends it back I read over it again to look at her edits and see if I like everything.  Depending on how many non minor edits she makes we may do this process several times before I mark a chapter as Ready to Post.

The End.

Now I want to take another moment of this post to mention Eclectic Pet again.  I would say she is my number one fan.  The reason she edits my work is because she loves to read it, and she offered several years ago to be my beta.  The only payment she gets for her work is she gets to read chapters before everyone else.  She already knows how Sound of Submission starts, and how the rewrite of Quidditch Lessons is going.  But really that isn’t much of a payment.  She is a vital part of my process and even though she has her own job, life, and writing to work on, she takes time to edit mine.  I guess what I am trying to say is that I am grateful for her, and this is the only due I can really give her for everything she does to make my stories better.

Thank you Eclectic Pet.

Favorite Authors

Standard

So let me start by saying that today I will be posting His Blood-Chapter 4.  But I do have good news for those who are interested in my Shame’s Desire!  I have written the first draft to four chapters.  Right now I am working on editing them so they aren’t ready to publish, but they are on their way :D.

This week I decided to wanted to talk about my favorite fan-fiction authors.  Obviously I like fan-fiction and nothing inspires me more to write than to read something good.  So I wanted to take some time to talk about my top three favorites.

Rrabbit (ff.net)(aff.org)-

The very top of this list would have to be a author known as rrabbit on fanfiction.net.  Her fan-fiction is mostly focused on a pairing between Draco and Ginny.  There are many reasons she is at the very top of my list and her skill as a writer is only one of them.  The first thing I read by her was a story called Envy and Manipulation.  I remember the first time I read the epic story and that it got me through a lot of late nights of serious insomnia I was having at the time.

Somehow her stories reminded me how much I liked to write.  In fact without her writing I don’t think I would have returned to writing myself.  Quidditch Lessons would have done unfinished and this website would not exist.

Her stories have a dark tone to them, and she is very good at respecting that darkness.  Rape happens in her work, but it is never sugar coated or ignored.  Horrible things have lasting emotional consequences in her work and tends to make for interested and broken characters.

Her stories are very long not only by fan-fiction standards, but but novel standards.  But this is something I really like about her work as well.  Whenever she finishes a chapter now, I tend to savor it like one would savor fine chocolate.

Out of the stories she has posted on-line my favorite would have to be her series that starts with Hate is Such a Strong Word.  Now that story is listed as a prequel to I’m Yours but since they literally leave off and then pick up on the same scene, the prequel is worth just reading first.  These first two stories focus on the lives of Draco and Ginny and the abusive relationship between them.  She is a prisoner of war when she is forced into the marriage, but nothing is ever so easy as black and white.  The third and fourth stories in the series focus a lot more their kids, but they are definitely worth reading as well.  They end up having four kids together and I really like how she has the two grow up and mature.

Nerys (ff.net)(aff.org)-

Nerys has to be my second favorite and she is singularly responsible for me even considering pairing Hermione with Lord Voldemort.  All those short stories and drabbles I’ve written with this pair are actually for a forum she helps to run.

Before I started to read her work I really didn’t like the pair very much.  I was confused why Lord Voldemort would ever hook up with the embodiment of everything he hates, and why would the brightest witch of her age ever fall for an evil controlling megalomaniac?  Before reading her work I saw a lot of pieces where they just made it so Hermione was a “secret pureblood” which didn’t really satisfy me very well.  Then I started reading The Prisoner and I was hooked.  After the first chapter I remember blinking to myself and thinking “Well shit… that is how that is done.”

After that I started reading everything she wrote.  I even joined her forum so that I could get suggestions on other well written stories with this pairing.  Joining the forum also allowed me to start working on my own pieces between this pair, and since that pair ranked 3rd in the poll I did last week I guess you guys are happy with that fact.

My favorite story by her is an unfinished story called The Apprentice, though I have to say The Prisoner (which is also unfinished) comes in a close second.  In this story Hermione is forced to work as Lord Voldemort’s apprentice in order to join a secret society of very powerful wizards.  There are many characters in this story that I really like, not just the main two.  I enjoy the glimpse one gets inside Dumbledore and even Grindelwald.  I find it to be a fun story with pretty dark themes and enjoyable smut.

Freya Ishtar (ff.net)(aff.org)-

Now my third pick is the hardest to choose actually.  There are a lot of authors I like out there and though the one and two spots are pretty firmly held, the third spot shifts much more often.  After much thought I decided Freya Ishtar wins this spot because I always end up going back to her work.  She writes mostly Draco Hermione stories but she does put other characters in as well.  Lucius and Blaise places regularly.

I think the first story I read by her was on aff.org and is no longer up for whatever reason.  It was about Draco blackmailing both Hermione and Harry into doing sexy things with him.  Soon after I read the start of one of her stories called Lessons and Hedonism about a three way relationship between Draco, Blaise, and Hermione.  It is fun, but still unfinished.

Something I both love and hate about Freya is the fact that she has so many ideas.  She literally has 30 stories started on ff.net and very few of them are finished.  If you think I am bad about finishing things you need to check out her page!  Though everything she writes is fun and good, it always makes me pout to see she has started something new.

My favorite story by her would have to be Diabolic.  A victorian era piece with Tom and Draco as vampires who seem to be slowly corrupting Hermione the innocent governess.  Though all of her stories are worth reading finishes or not.

A bit New

Standard

Today I am posting Chapter 3 of His Blood but I have a bit more to talk about than that.

I know I haven’t spent a lot of time on this blog actually writing blog posts.  Last week was an anomaly but it felt a bit good for me.  Many of my posts have been really just announcements that I have a new chapter posted.  I’ve decided to change that.  I’ve decided I am going to try and give you a new blog post each week as well as a story update.

These blog posts will probably be sorted into one of three categories, with a lot of cross over among the three.  I see this blog being about writing, BDSM, and obviously Harry Potter fan-fiction.  So each week I plan to write something a bit more substantial that has to do with one or more of these categories.  I don’t really have a plan on what I will be writing each week but except that they will relate to one of these categories.

One thing I have been thinking a lot about recently is the fact I tend not to stick to a particular pairing in my writing.  For me any pair is free game as long as the fit the story I want to tell.  Now a lot of times this means there are some things that these pairings have in common.  I tend to pair off dark dominate men with with heroic submissive women.  This isn’t because I think that all men are dark or all women are submissive.  I match these pairs and write stories this way simply because this is the combination that I enjoy telling stories about.

I think I may have mentioned last week that I feel like my broader collection of pairings actually ends up impairing my ability to gain more readers.  My total lack of any real writing ability doesn’t help either I’m sure.  Sometimes I consider limiting myself more and focusing on one pair.  But this I have to think of who that would be and the very idea of having to choose makes my head spin.

If I went purely by the numbers of hits I get to different stories I would have to say Hermione/Harry as Smell of Submission gets more hits than any other work by a lot.  But here is a dirty little secret of mine… The golden trio are my least favorite characters to write about.  I have two main reasons for this.  First is that I think it is a whole lot easier for me to mess them up.  They are the main characters of the cannon books, so you get to know them pretty well.  Lesser fleshed out characters are much easier to make into what I need them to be for the story.  The second reason is that I feel like we got a whole series of following them around already.  They’ve had their time in the limelight, lets give someone else a chance!

That isn’t to say I don’t enjoy writing the Sense of Submission series.  I think this twist I have given the universe makes for a something new and interesting.  If you’ve seen my table of continues you know I am planning 5 stories in total and I just wouldn’t do that if I didn’t like what was going on.

So if I am not going to choose the most popular pair than how would I even choose?  I don’t really think I even have a favorite overall.  I usually just have a favorite of the moment, which can literally change from hour to hour.  As I am writing this, if I really had to choose a favorite right now I guess I would have to say Ginny/Lord Voldemort, but I am pretty sure that won’t last the hour…

So that brings me back to just writing a verity of pairings and playing it by what I am into at the moment and what fits the story best.  I’m interested to know what you guys think.  What pairing of mine is your favorite?  I’m going to put a poll here so it will be an easy question to answer.
